- Abstract
- The Delft-FIAT (Flood Impact Assessment Tool) is a flexible Open Source toolset for building and running flood impact models that are based on the unit-loss method. The modeler is able to build and run impacts models compatible with all major hydro-dynamic and GIS-software. To download Delft-FIAT contact Kymo Slager (kymo.slager@deltares.nl).
Delft-FIAT does not come with exposure or hazard data - these must be supplied by the user. Hazard maps (representing a scenario, or a return period map) must be imported by the user. The modeler is free to use its own comfortable tools and interfaces (e.g. ArcGIS, QGIS, Python, Matlab) to build the input data needed for flood impact assessment. These are exposure maps, impact functions and maximum damages, all related through a model configuration file. The exposure maps should be formatted following an open data standard or defacto standard (e.g. Tiff, asc) and need to fulfill some basic requirements. The other inputs are managed through an excel worksheet.

- Platform details
- There are different ways to run a Delft-FIAT model:
- stand-alone using a DOS-command (incl. batch possibilities); installation is just unzipping the D_FIAT.zip into a local system folder (see section 2.4)
- stand-alone using a Python command; unzip the D_FIAT_python.zip into a local system folder and install the appropriate Python version (see section 2.2)
In both cases, a user needs a normal windows-pc, at least 500 MB of disk space. With Python, some additional libraries need to be installed.
