- Abstract
- "National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) tasked development of this Cyclone Web-based Composite Risk Atlas (Web-CRA) to RMSI Pvt. Ltd, Noida. This Risk Atlas has been customised on GeoNode and provides software tools to help decision makers in risk mitigation planning for the coastal states/UTs to protect the people and assets of the country. This Risk Atlas has been developed by applying scientific methods that simulate the impact of a cyclone in a computer-based model. It provides risk estimates from cyclone induced strong winds, flooding due to storm surge, and flooding due to cyclone induced rainfall. The three key components of Risk Atlas are (a) Precompiled digital risk atlas (b) Risk Analyzer, and (c ) Hotspot Analysis.
The precompiled digital risk atlas is a ready reckoner to understand the cyclone risk in any part of the study area of the State/UT. It provides cyclone risk in terms of population at risk, buildings and infrastructure assets at risk and estimated damage and loss from various possible cyclone scenarios.
The Risk Analyzer provides the capability to decision makers to update the risk atlas and analyse regional district and taluka level mitigation options.
The Hotspot analysis provides the decision makers tools for conducting a micro-level risk analysis at village level and generating outputs that help in risk mitigation and response planning.
The Web-CRA is dynamic in terms of Exposure data, vulnerability, and risk assessment and a user can generate Detailed as well Summary reports of exposure, risk reports at any admin level (state, district, taluka/tehsil, city, village ), and hotspot reports on a single click of a button.
